Twenty years ago our founder and CEO Dr John Williams opened up a new era of embedded systems design and development when he ported the Linux kernel to the new Xilinx MicroBlaze soft-processor architecture, bring together the performance and flexibility of FPGA logic and the software productivity of embedded Linux. Starting out with small consulting jobs through the University of Queensland, John soon saw the tremendous commercial potential, and PetaLogix was created.
Ten years and hundreds of satisfied customers later, PetaLogix was acquired by Xilinx (now AMD), but the PetaLinux tool suite remains the default out-of-the-box Embedded Linux development environment across all Xilinx SOC devices including the multicore MPSoC platforms.
Returning to academia, John entered the cyber security space, developing the major proposal leading to the establishment of UQ Cyber, and the flagship Master of Cyber Security, which brings a multi-disciplinary approach to cyber security across technology, criminology, leadership and cryptography. Teaching into the program as well as managing the final year capstone project, John has worked with the best in Australia and the world to establish a talent pipeline like no other.
Fast forward to 2023, and it's time for a new challenge. Resilient Embedded was created to address the chronic need for affordable and pragmatic security services for SMEs in the embedded space. Gone are the days when devices could ship with default root passwords or an un-audited collection of open source packages. With increasing system complexity, what's needed is a technology informed approach to embedded system security, rather than a one-size-fits-all model. That's Resilient Embedded.
Resilient Embedded is proud to partner with WorkWare Systems, a leading provider of embedded systems design and development expertise, with a particular focus on Embedded Linux and Xilinx SoC platforms.
